Glyphosate/Roundup and Human Male Infertility
Steep decline in human male sperm count concomitant with rise in testicular germ cell cancer, congenital malformations of the male reproductive tract and drop in serum testosterone levels, all pointing towards increasing exposure to glyphosate/Roundup herbicides during the past decades, now corroborated by lab findings
Dr Mae-Wan Ho 19th March 2014

Scientists Declare No Consensus on GMO Safety
A group of 93 scientists from all over the world deplore the disinformation over the safety of GMOs and expose the lack of empirical and scientific evidence on which the false claims of "consensus" on safety are being made
ISIS 21st October 2013

China's Consumers Reject GMOs
The Chinese people have always been suspicious of GMOs, as they take their food and extremely diverse traditional cuisines much more seriously than almost any other people in the world. They were alerted to the hazards of GM food in a big way since 2010 when pigs began dying off in large numbers as a widely planted suspected GM corn was used as feed
Dr Mae-Wan Ho 29th July 2013

New GM Nightmares with RNA
Small double-stranded RNA (dsRNAs) that aim to interfere with specific gene expression are increasingly used to create GM crops; unfortunately they have many off-target effects and can also interfere with gene expression in all animals exposed to the crops
Dr. Mae-Wan Ho 29th April 2013

Hazardous Virus Gene Discovered in GM Crops after 20 Years
ISIS has warned against the CaMV 35S promoter and called for all affected GM crops to be withdrawn since 1999 while damning evidence on its safety continues to emerge

Potentially Dangerous Virus Gene Hidden in Commercial GM Crops
The European Food Safety Authority has just discovered a virus gene in GM crops it has been approving over the past twenty years; a thorough independent risk assessment based on existing data shows that the only reasonable course of action is a total recall of all affected GM crops

Tell WalMart to Reject Monsanto's GMO Corn
There is growing evidence of health hazards associated with genetically modified (GM) food and feed, which ISIS has reviewed extensively over the years. Health hazards linked to Bt toxins include organ damage in lab animals, diarrhoea, increased water consumption, decrease in liver weight, damage and death of human kidney cells in culture, allergies in humans, changes in blood chemistry, and mass deaths of sheep grazing on Bt crops residues - Now Monsanto is introducing GM Bt corn for direct human consumption.

Prof. Joe Cummins 9th June 2010

Time to Eradicate Malaria?
Malaria has declined significantly worldwide thanks to combination therapy based on artemisinin and the use of insecticide-impregnated mosquito nets; this has raised hopes for eradicating the disease by developing additional drugs and vaccines and the release of transgenic mosquitoes, but is it wise?

UK Chief Scientist Misrepresented Over GM
Is it possible that Prof. Beddington’s staff - at the Department for the Environment Food and Rural Affairs perhaps - are much keener on GM than he is, and wrote a speech for him that was leaked ahead of time to The Guardian? Could it be that Prof. Beddington, after seeing the prepared speech, changed it out of all recognition?

The Bradford Hill Criteria Applied to Climate Change & GMOs
If smoking causes lung cancer, we should try to stop people smoking, if greenhouse gas emissions are causing climate change, we should reduce them, if genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are hazardous, we should ban them. The problem for policy makers is that it is hard to be sure, or rather it is hard to be sure enough to convince a government to spend money or offend a powerful lobby. The Bradford Hill criteria can help in the difficult task of making decisions when the evidence, while strong, is not conclusive.

GM Crops Facing Meltdown in the USA
Major crops genetically modified for just two traits - herbicide tolerance and insect resistance – are ravaged by super weeds and secondary pests in the heartland of GMOs as farmers fight a losing battle with more of the same; a fundamental shift to organic farming practices may be the only salvation

Letter to Hilary Benn MP on GMOs
The Government appears to believe that genetically modified (GM) crops are needed to solve the crisis of food shortages and high food prices in the world. In the past, the Government has expressed an intention to be a leader in the field of biotechnology. Dr. Mae-Wan Ho and Prof. Joe Cummins review some of the scientific evidence behind a series of recent scandals involving the safety of GM food and feed. They expose fatal flaws in the regulatory process and highlight how Europe is in danger of approving GM varieties that are genetically unstable and hence illegal as well as unsafe. They demand a full enquiry into the abuse of science that has allowed GM crops not fit for human or animal consumption to enter our food chain.

Death by DNA Shuffling
Geneticists can now create millions of new viruses and bacteria in a matter of minutes in the laboratory. And there is no regulation to stop them from being effectively released.
Dr. Mae-Wan Ho 17th April 2003

Bio-Terrorism and SARS
The world has been whipped up into hysteria over terrorist attacks and 'weapons of mass destruction'. Governments want to ban the publication of sensitive scientific research results, and a group of major life sciences editors and authors has concurred. Some even suggest an international body to police research and publication.

Putting Genes in Chloroplast Not "Environmentally Friendly"
Regulatory agencies and the public have traditionally entrusted the scientists developing new technologies to conduct rigorous evaluation and research of their products to ensure safety to human health and the environment. But one biotech CEO bluntly said, "we not in the business of making problems for ourselves", which is why critique by scientists outside industry is sorely needed

Predicted Hazard of Gene Therapy A Reality
ISIS was almost a lone voice warning of cancer from foreign genes inserting into the genome in 'gene therapy' and other exposures to transgenic DNA. Regrettably, this has now become reality

GM DNA in Human Gut Underestimated
UK’s Food Standards Agency dismissed its new research findings that GM DNA in food has transferred to bacteria in the human gut. Dr. Mae-Wan Ho reveals how the experiment was designed to bias against positive findings, so the actual transfer of GM DNA could be much more extensive.

Diabetes Not in the Genes
Type 2 or late onset diabetes has been reaching epidemic proportions in industrialised countries. Diabetes now costs Britain's National Health Service nearly a tenth of its budget. Instead of addressing the environmental causes, huge efforts are invested into identifying 'susceptibility genes'
